Barloworld Equipment is the official dealer for the Cat construction, mining and industrial machine range in eleven southern African countries, in addition to Siberia and the Russian Far East.
Countries represented in southern Africa are South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Namibia, Botswana, Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Katanga Province (in joint venture with Tractafric Equipment, a Cat dealer based in France).
In addition to new and Cat Certified Used equipment offerings, the Barloworld Equipment Cat Rental Store provides innovative off balance sheet facilities. This enables customers to rent Cat machines for periods ranging up to two years, with end-of-contract purchase options available.
In-field support is provided by a comprehensive suite of after-sales solutions. These are accessed via centralised and regional technical service centres across all territories. In turn, warehousing hubs and inventory held at Barloworld Equipment branches and depots supply a full range of genuine Cat parts.
The Boksburg campus in Johannesburg houses the Barloworld Remanufacturing and Barloworld Condition Monitoring Centres, the latter incorporating a Cat SOS Services oil, fuel and wear analysis laboratory – one of only five such Caterpillar lab facilities worldwide. The Barloworld Remanufacturing Centre is the main southern African hub for ‘as new’ Cat component rebuilds (power train, engines and hydraulics), components are supplied to mining and civil engineering customers on a parts exchange basis via an adjoining warehouse.
An ongoing investment in artisan training, as well as specialist engineering career development ensures that the skills are on hand to deliver expert solutions in all areas. Barloworld Equipment’s Technical Training Centre in Isando, Johannesburg, trains and certifies Cat earthmoving mechanics to South African National Qualifications (NQF) Level 3 standard and fully complies with Caterpillar standards.
